Eye Care Tips for 40+ Skin Care

EYE CARE TIPS FOR 40+ SKIN

Don’t pull or rub skin around the eyes.  Learn to use your fingers in the opposite direction to the surrounding muscle to prevent it from stretching.  Always begin any operation such as cleansing or moisturizing by placing the finger at the outer corner and moving it inward under the eye toward the nose. Then continue the circle around over the eyelid, coming back to the starting position.

Use your middle finger instead of the index finger when applying cream, oil or makeup around the eye. The index finger is too strong and can stretch the delicate skin. Practice using a touch so light that skin hardly moves.

Lubricate the eye area twice a day.  This is important in fighting the signs of anti-aging.  Always follow this process after cleansing.

Wear sunglasses whenever possible when outside.  This protects your eyes from UV rays , as well as prevents  SQUINTING .  Squinting is responsible for many of the expression lines around the eyes, on the nose and between the brows.

Don’t use waterproof mascara every day.  Layers of lacquer build up with daily use, and causes lashes to break and fall out under stress.

Here’s a great recipe for soothing and moisturizing tired eyes:

Refreshing Eye Gel

1 tablespoon aloe vera  gel
1 teaspoon fresh cucumber juice
¼ teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon witch hazel

Mix together aloe vera, cucumber juice and cornstarch. Heat until just boiling. Stir in witch hazel. Allow mixture to cool.  You should have a clear, jelly-like cream.  Spoon into small clean jar.
Dab a small amount under your eyes and be careful to not rub or pull the delicate skin under the eyes.
Use it in the morning under your makeup or at the end of the day for a quick pick-me-up.
